Friends, Tories, Countrymen...
Firstly a big hello for those of you who have recently made the decision to come to Durham. Although its a relatively small place Durham is the oldest, most prestigious and highest ranked University in the North of England (Times Good University Guide 2008) . With the Conservative fight back in the North in full swing there is a very important part for DUCA to play, and an awful lot of fun to be had.
DUCA is Durham University's largest political organisation and by far its most active. We have well over one hundred members and usually run events of some kind every week. Our purpose is to promote the ideas and values of the UK Conservative Party both to the public at large and also to the student body. We do this by running political events, such as guest speakers, and purely social ones as well.
We also aim to aid Durham students in furthering the Conservative message. We hold regular internal debates, organise activist training as well as publicising information on forthcoming work placements and internships (as part of our Internbank scheme) making DUCA a great bonus for your CV.
Membership is as little as £5 and I hope to post details for next term's events very soon
